Il Rio - winery in Mugello

A few decades ago Paolo and Manuela retreated from city life in Florence with the dream of living off of the land. Their chosen area was Mugello in the north of Tuscany, well into the Apennine Mountains. Not an area as such known for wine, Paolo was in doubt of what might grow. The chosen grape was Pinot Noir which come out excellent. They tend to their vineyards by hand and it is almost as if Paolo and Manuela know every grapevine by name! A micro winery but with great know-how and care as to make the finest wines of the area.
