The winery:
Barone di Villagrande is an estate that lies high on the slopes of the eastern side of mount Etna, in an area where it is also possible to produce the Etna Bianco Superiore. Even though it is one of the most historical estates on the vulcano, it has never overgrown its family-winery size. 
 
The wine:
The eastern side of Etna has a particular climate that is more moist but also offers bigger temperature excursions than other parts of the vulcano. This together with the mineral rich soils gives particularly good results in the whites that can be named "Superiore".  This wine is fresh and at the same time has a great sapidity, an excellent example of high altitude Carricante grapes.
