MUGELLO

Wineries: Around 10

Appellation: Toscana IGT

history.png

That the climate is changing and the wine industry with it is no myth. In Tuscany's northern highlands viticulture has recently set its roots, and in recent years small farmers (along with the historical wine family Frescobaldi) have planted vineyards in the region. With plenty of space, the best plots are now planted with vines. So if Bolgheri is Tuscany's Bordeaux, Mugello is its Burgundy!

At an average altitude of 300 meters above sea level, here Burgundian varieties thrive; Pinot Noir & Chardonnay. Riesling has also been planted with good results.

The wineries in Mugello are quite small and most practice organic growing. The region is becoming especially famous for its great Pinot Noirs. Even though the grape variety is French, there is a specific Tuscan touch to these grapes that we can't wait to discover with you!
