Pearls of Piemonte
a Grapetrotters Adventure in September
Our home base will be the charming city of Alba, situated in the heart of some of Piemonte's most renowned wine regions in the Langhe. Nestled in the city's most comfortable hotel, we'll embark on three full-day excursions, exploring both well-established wineries and hidden gems. This allows us to truly delve into the essence of the exceptional wines of northern Italy.
Monday, September 22 - 2025 (day 1)
DISCOVER ALBA & WELCOME DINNER
Our rendezvous will take place in Alba during the afternoon, and upon your arrival, you'll seamlessly check into the hotel.
Alba, a town steeped in history, is renowned for its neighboring wine regions, truffles, chocolate, hazelnuts, and overall exceptional cuisine.
To commence our Alba experience, a local city guide will provide insights into the town, followed by a delightful welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Here, we'll have our first introduction to the wines that set the tone for our culinary journey.
Tuesday, September 23 - 2025 (day 2)
BAROLO
Today, our exploration takes us to the renowned Barolo region, where we'll uncover the treasures of both a traditional and an iconic winery. At the latter, we'll delve into the intricacies of cru vineyards (MGA) and savor tastings from a variety of offerings.
A pause in Barolo village offers an opportunity for a leisurely stroll, immersing ourselves in the charming surroundings. The vineyards, adorned with Nebbiolo grapes nearing ripeness, paint a picturesque scene.
For lunch, we'll dine at a splendid restaurant affording a panoramic view of the Barolo vineyards—an experience in one of the most beautiful wine regions globally.
The evening in Alba is free, allowing for personal exploration and relaxation.
Wednesday, September 24 - 2025 (day 3)
BARBARESCO
Barbaresco, though smaller in size than Barolo, holds equal greatness and fame, often earning the title of the queen of Italian wines, with Barolo rightfully claiming the role of king.
On this day, we'll delve into the essence of the Barbaresco region, visiting two family-run wineries situated in distinct locations within the appellation. A visit to the village of Barbaresco is also on the agenda.
Lunch will be a delightful affair at a local restaurant renowned for its expertise in Piedmontese traditional cuisine.
The evening in Alba is free.
Thursday, September 25 - 2025 (day 4)
ROERO
Roero, situated on the left bank of the Tanaro River, is a relative newcomer to the scene, located in a geologically newer area compared to its renowned counterparts on the right bank. While Nebbiolo remains the red grape of choice, this day will unveil the unique characteristics of Arneis.
Our exploration kicks off at the winery that brought this white grape into prominence.
Following this, we'll venture to a family-owned and -operated winery, indulging in a tasting featuring six distinct wines paired with a home-cooked Piemontese lunch.
To conclude our day, we'll visit an iconic and historically significant winery, still under family ownership and known for its warm hospitality.
Our farewell dinner unfolds in Alba at a local restaurant, marking the culmination of our journey.
